Mr. & Mrs. E. E. Delk

Dear Aunt & Uncle,

Will try after so many buzy years to write you a few lines. Have often thought of doing so. But seems as writing is a great task to me of late. Of course my new aunt & I have never met but seems to me we are almost acquainted by seeing babies picture. He is a bright & sweet looking boy. Of course favors papa & momma both. Well we are down home visiting now. My two babies & hubbie & I. Having a nice time. Florence Davis is here to. As you can immagion some of the good old times past. Your old girl Mina Chase is at home now. She was here a week ago last Sunday. Has two little boys. Just need you & aunt here now to complete the old time circle. Ida will be at home next week. She lives in Bethany, Mo. She will spend a few weeks with us. They will soon start for Texas. Meda & her husband were at home to day. Came up after fruit, grapes & apples. She lives in Leon. Is there plenty of fruit where you live. If not you ought to be here to see the grapes and apples. The apples aspecially. There are more than fifty bushell on the ground & that was not half so many are getting. It has been very dry this summer. Drier than it has ever been known. There was no hay crop & no corn to amount to any thing. But the wheat rie & oats were very good. Pa is now sowing his fall wheat. The boys, Frank, Ira & Charley are cutting corn fodder. They will half to save every bit of this fodder for feed & then I do not know what some will do for feed. Will not starve of course. Never have yet in this county here.

Uncle Bart was here to day. They are all well at present. Uncle Nan made us a visit a few weeks ago. He is still batching it. Of course you know that Virgil Arney was married. He married Susie Woodmansee of Leon. She is real nice. But poor old Kittie is still our old maid. I tell Frank he ought to be ashamed. Hattie & her man have parted. there is gowing on now. She married John Sheutz (that is right). Aunt Olive is having something taken off of her face. Think it is a cancer. Have not heard how she is yet. Uncle Elmer I have the sweetest little boy & girl. You ought to see them. Auldy is the boy, Eva the girl. He is 4, she is three. Will send their pictures if you will send me yours & Aunt Martha’s. Yes & babies to. We are going to give momma a surprise on her birthday the 16th. It would give us all great pleasure to have you with us. If it is possible do come.

Well I must close. the boys are ready to go to town. Mamma says do not feel hard toward her for not writing. She is so very busy but will soon. Sends her love to all. Now if this is worthy an answer it will be gladly accepted. Our love to you all.

From your loving neice, Mrs. Kate Tansey
