My Dear Niece and all

Just Rec your ever kind & welcome letter about 1 hour ago. Glad to hear from you and to hear you were all well. The mail man & bad stormy weather is the reason you have not heard from me I bet you heard frome before even our letters passed on the way to & from each other. I guess well Dear I am still getting lots better my Dock is surprised at the change but I dont tell them I doubled my dose of Medicine by going slow I could walk 10 or 12 miles easy in a day. have gained 11 lb in 2 weeks can sleep 7 to 9 hours at night but Dear I have to go slow. I washed 3 shirts and 2 union suits and cut and wheeled 3 or 4 big whell barow loads as wood in yesterday am pretty sore today but am all right.

Am getting me a new attorney on my case if I had my business straightened up I would be back there next week but Dear I may loose then I can never come so I can only hope for the best. lots of days dear I dont see a sole for 5 or 6 days and it is awful bad for I cant read on account of my medicine affecting my eyes. Well Dear when is your school out. I may try powder work again but the docks says it will sure kill me if I do. Just as well be dead as broke but I wonte die alone. With love to all, hope you are all well your uncle Joe D
